About Us

The alarming rise in petty crimes on Delhi's streets, such as mobile phone theft and snatching and chain snatching, is attributed to misguided juveniles, the majority of whom have roots and society in slum areas with underprivileged sections of society. Due to a lack of education and proper upbringing, these adolescents wander aimlessly without any visible future direction. They are frequently ignored by their impoverished families, and as a result, they are identified and targeted as a soft target by criminal organizations. Once these juveniles reach the age of adolescence, it is extremely difficult to get them back on track. If these juveniles are properly cared for from a young age by providing education, clothing, and food, they can be protected from becoming members of an evil society and, eventually, become good citizens.

With these goals and objectives in mind, a group of senior citizens and others stepped forward and accepted responsibility for supporting the cause of these young and growing children.

The idea of forming an NGO (PANKH) was conceived on February 18, 2008, when the Memorandum of Association was registered with the Registrar of Societies. Since then, the society has focused on the impoverished kids of Rohini and other surrounding areas who live in an oppressed, exploited, and demoralized environment of slums. If these children are not properly educated, they are forced to work as domestic help, errand boys at roadside hotels and dhabas, and repair shops, among other things. Currently, approximately 25 children are receiving free education and other services, such as crèche cum play school, at B-6/177, Sector-3, Rohini, Delhi, in addition to clothes, food, and toys.

Our NGO's well-trained staff makes honest and sincere efforts to provide these children with wings (Pankh) so that they can fly very high and achieve success in their lives.

For the past three years, the Pankh Foundation has been publishing a monthly magazine called "Rashtriya Mayur" in order to promote family and other moral values, as well as creativity among individuals.

In addition, Pankh Foundation organizes health camps in slum areas and distributes medicines to the poor and needy. These people are also being educated about their basic legal rights and responsibilities.

Pankh Foundation has also been granted a certificate under sections 12 and 80 (G) of the Income Tax Act for the exemption of income tax on funds used to make charitable contributions.

As we continue our efforts to improve society, we would like to ask for your help by subscribing to "Rashtriya Mayur," with the assurance that every penny contributed will put a smile on a child's face and will go a long way toward making the world a better place to live.

Thanks in anticipation

Late Sh. Karam Chand Bhardwaj was a well-educated M.A Economics (Hons.) personality who served the Government of India as Dy. Director Cabinet Sectt. and in other capacities. Apart from his military service, he was an active RWA social worker. Following his retirement, he joined CSR-Competition Success Review magazine as Sr. Editor. While forming an NGO in 2008, he was the driving force behind the acronym PANKH, which stands for Patriotic Alliance for Nurturing the Knowledge Hub. It was Late ShBhardwaj's idea to include Senior Citizens on the Board of Directors of an NGO because Senior Citizens have vast experience in handling family matters, so parents and families in slum areas can get proper guidance on how to handle their children and keep them away from the crime field, in order to raise good citizens.
